Assistance with Stormwater Projects

The image contrasts the negative impacts of traditional lawns with the benefits of native landscaping solutions for water management and ecology.

Looking for ways to reduce erosion, flooding, standing water, or runoff problems on your property or in your community?

Rain gardens, native plantings, shoreline improvements, and better drainage design can help slow down rainwater, reduce erosion, and keep soil and pollutants out of nearby lakes, rivers, wetlands, and ditches.

These projects can also help support pollinators and wildlife while improving the appearance and long-term health of a property.

Kanabec SWCD provides local guidance, consultation, and project design support at no cost to help landowners, lakeshore owners, and local groups develop practical conservation projects with multiple benefits.

Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Rain gardens
  • Native plantings
  • Drainage and runoff improvements
  • Shoreline stabilization and restoration projects
  • Upgrades to existing drainage areas and infrastructure

These projects are especially encouraged near lakes, streams, wetlands, and other sensitive areas.

Cost-share funding may also be available for eligible projects.
